COVID-19 Update

For all of our friends, patrons and lovers of Shakespeare, you’ll have realized that we, too, have been adversely affected by the Covid-19 virus. That has meant cancellation of our Bard on the Bandstand presentation of “As You Like It” for this summer. Don’t worry, though. We will be bringing Rosalind, Orlando, Celia, Touchstone and all their companions to the stage next summer in Mission, Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge. It may be re-imagined depending upon what needs to be done to satisfy virus protocols, but we can guarantee you’ll love it! Keep following our page for further updates regarding Bard on the Bandstand, and other Emerald Pig events.

Thanks for stopping by. Stay safe!

Emerald Pig PITCH NIGHT for 2020-2021

Calling all directors, producers, and theatre fans!

Is there a show that you’ve always wanted to see and be a part of in your community but never had the opportunity? Well, here it is!

The Emerald Pig Theatrical Society is hosting our spring ‘Pitch Night’ on Saturday, March 21, to choose productions for our next season of community theatre in the Ridge Meadows area.

We are looking for ideas and volunteers for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 productions, as well as Bard on the Bandstand 2021 – our summer Shakespeare in the park show.

Pitch Night offers a friendly, casual environment to pitch your ideas in person to the Emerald Pig Society board members and other attendees. If you have an idea but you’re not able to make it to Pitch Night, please send a write-up of your pitch to epts.vp@gmail.com by Friday, March 20.

Pitches should be well thought-out and include:

  • The title and description of the play or other performance piece
  • Ideas about where it could be performed (theatre, church, park, arena, etc.) and the target audience
  • An estimate of the total number of cast and crew of volunteers that would be needed to make it happen
  • An estimate of the budget and ticket prices, if any

The performance ideas that are most likely to win over the board are those that are well thought-out and viable for an inclusive, volunteer-run community theatre group with modest financial resources.

The passion, creativity, and teamwork of Emerald Pig’s volunteers has carried us through over 16 fantastic seasons — please join us to help make our 17th season even better!

Emerald Pig Pitch Night 2020
Date: Saturday, March 21, 2020
Time: 5pm to 8pm

Please send your RSVP to epts.vp@gmail.com for the location details.

We look forward to seeing you! Feel free to bring snacks!

Written by William Shakespeare

As You Like It is one of Shakespeare’s most familiar and best loved comedies. Written around 1600, it is an enduring tale of love, betrayal, retribution and redemption. Merriment abounds in this charming hodgepodge of comedic characters, mistaken identities, misunderstandings and unusual wisdom. Follow Rosalind and Celia as they flee in exile from the evil Duke Frederick’s court into the Forest of Arden where Rosalind assumes the identity of a young lad, Ganymede, and finds her true love in Orlando, also hiding in the forest. They all meet up with the good Duke Senior and his entourage. But, for her own safety, she can’t tell Orlando or anyone else who she really is and instead Ganymede helps Orlando to practice his courtship of Rosalind by pretending to be her. After much hilarity, all is revealed, the natural order is restored and true love prevails.
